February is the month to celebrate our love of life, music and each other with the band who do nothing but just that..
After only nine months together, it's safe to say that Melbourne band Playwrite have accomplished quite a lot in that time. After nearly 50 shows, two EPs, a host of international and national support slots and a passionate fan base captivating music lovers and makers alike. Playwrite create a wild and haunting wall of sound; animalistic and undeniably catchy. Through pounding drums, samples and swirling guitars come soaring lyrics and chants reminiscent of TV on the Radio, WHY? and Akron/Family. A fresh, dynamic and singular addition to the Melbourne live music scene, Playwrite are a band galvanised by their energy and musicianship. So bring along the loves of your lives to these shows that are not to be missed. Click here for more info |

Active Child is the project of LA resident Pat Grossi. Pat brings his harp-laden, synth-filled pop to Australia this January as part of Laneway Festival, and now announces headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Although this is his first Australian tour under the Active Child moniker, Pat has in fact journeyed to this part of the world once before. At the tender age of nine, he performed with the Philadelphia Boys Choir at the Sydney Opera House, and the influence of those choirboy days run deep on his debut album, "You Are All I See". After the recent success of their latest album ‘Father, Son, Holy Ghost’, San Francisco’s GIRLS are back to tour Australia. The album received a glowing 9.3 review on Pitchfork and plenty more unconditional love for this stand out pop gem. ‘Father, Son, Holy Ghost’ exhibits a new sound built on the ideas and ears of a much more confident band. GIRLS are at times ebullient and at others absolutely devastating. A truly beautiful and immensely diverse band, sliding from sweet punchy pop tunes into soothing psychedelia, now is the time to catch this all-inspiring group and be mesmerised by the sun soaked psychedelic pop that is GIRLS. Northcote Social Club. |

Northcote |
09-02-2012 |
Publicist is Sebastian Thomson, mainly known as the drummer for post-rock stalwarts Trans Am and punk band Weird War (briefly known as The Scene Creamers). By mixing live drums, vocoded vocals, outer space arpeggios, and synth bass lines, Publicist creates retro-futuristic synth groove jams for smokey chrome and neon dance clubs. Combining sequenced synths with the sweat and charisma of a live physical performance, Publicist’s one man band approach appeals directly to a spectrum of ‘70s kraut-rockers, house DJs, dancers, and party people. Preferring to perform on the dance floor rather than the stage, he is of the people and for the people. Joining Publicist will be Hawnay Troof, the electronic indie solo project of Vice Cooler, known for his brilliant, hyperactive live performances. Click here for more info |

360 With Special Guests Joelistics & Bam Bam |
Ferntree Gully Hotel - The Middle. |
Ferntree Gully |
10-02-2012 |
True to the title of his upcoming major label debut album Falling & Flying, Melbourne hip-hop artist 360 has been through some serious ups and downs over the past 12 months. After announcing his partnership with Soulmate/EMI in mid-2010, and leaking album track ‘The Take Off’ (currently sitting on 100k+ views on YouTube) to his growing legion of fans, the former underground emcee seemed to be sitting on top of the world. But after a karting accident in late 2010 that nearly took his life, Sixty experienced one of his lowest ever points. Far from wallowing in self-pity, 360 used the experience as fuel for the fire, recording a swathe of new tunes for the already-completed album, including a handful of soulful, soul-baring tracks with uber-producer M-Phazes (2010 ARIA winner for Best Hip-Hop Release).
